On Thursday, October 31, 2024, JB Student Body Leadership will sponsor a Halloween Costume Dress Day. Students may wear a Halloween costume. While it is a day of excitement for the students, there are a few rules to which all students must comply.
It is NOT a free dress day. Students may choose to wear a costume OR the John Burroughs uniform. All costumes must meet the school dress code standards. The following items/costumes may not be worn:
- No full-face masks
- No full-face painting
- No undergarments may be worn for outer clothing (ex: diapers,
- No toy or replica weapons such as guns, knives, spears, or
- No gang associated clothing such as jerseys, bandanas, or jackets
- No inappropriate clothing. Nothing that will be revealing such as mini-skirts, tube tops, midriffs
- No open toe shoes, no high heels, no sandals, no crocs
- No form-fitting costumes (e.g., Cat woman, Superman)
- All costumes must be in good taste and appropriate for Middle School
- Violations of Halloween or uniform dress code will be referred for disciplinary action
- No regular street clothing
Prohibited items will be confiscated and parents will be called to ask to bring appropriate attire for students to school.
All costumes should not be demeaning to any person or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, identity (boy as girls and vice versa), nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or to any individual student at the school.
